In my case, my Amazon Smart Plugs stopped working, and I needed to reset them. If you’re facing a similar problem, don’t worry – I’ve got you covered.

The Short answer is this! Many different reasons can cause your smart plug not responding. It could be plugged into a faulty wall outlet. Internet connectivity issues with your Wi-Fi network might be the cause. Your smart plug or Alexa device software version may need an update. It could also be an issue with the Amazon Alexa app. Keep reading to learn how to fix these common causes.

Confirm the power outlet is functional

Unplug the Amazon smart plug and plug in a regular device like your phone charger. We can rule out the faulty outlet if there’s power flow. If there is no power flow, you have a defective wall outlet. To fix this, try and reset the circuit breaker and test for power again. If you’re still not getting electrical output after following these steps, plug the smart device into a different power socket.

Confirm your Wi-Fi router is working and has a good Wi-Fi signal

Another step is to check if your Amazon Smart Plugs are connected to your Wi-Fi. To do this, open the Alexa app and select the Devices tab. Under the list of devices, you should see your Amazon Smart Plugs. If they are not connected, tap the Connect button and follow the on-screen instructions.

Slow internet connectivity

Suppose your Amazon Smart Plugs are connected to your Wi-Fi network and still not working. In that case, it could be experiencing a slow internet connection. Try restarting your router. To restart your router, unplug it from the power outlet and plug it back in after 30 seconds.

One of the most common problems with the Amazon Smart Plug is that it may be unresponsive to Alexa. To resolve this, try these steps!

First, update the smart plugs and the Alexa App to the latest version. Additionally, ensure that The smart plug and your Alexa device are on the same Wi-Fi network and are at least 30 feet from each other. If your smart plug is still not responding, you will need to reset it to factory settings

How to reset your amazon smart plug

Try factory resetting your Amazon Smart Plug. The reset process is straightforward. To reset your Amazon Smart Plug: press and hold the button on the side of the device for 12 seconds. Release the button once you see the LED light begin flashing red. A blue LED blinks when reset is complete.

After factory resetting your Amazon smart plug, you must go through the setup process again.

If you already have Wi-Fi simple setup is enabled on your other smart Alexa devices, the smart plugs will be set up automatically. If not, add the smart plug device to Alexa using the Alexa app on your phone.

TIP: When using your phone to add the smart plug, turn on Bluetooth and location services. Additionally, Turn off power-saving mode or low-power mode.
